How to Eat Raw Garlic

Raw garlic is delicious, it adds the perfect flavor to any dish, and is so easy to incorporate into any meal, and is very beneficial to your health.  It must be added fresh to obtain the most healthful benefits.  It can be added fresh to just about anything: salads, sauces, salsa, dips, soups, stews, and more!  Here are a few ideas on how to eat raw garlic. I would recommend getting a good garlic press, it is the easiest tool to use and the smaller the pieces of garlic, the more healthy benefits of garlic are available to you.

Simple Salad

~ Pour a little bit of olive oil into a salad bowl

~ Press a few cloves of garlic and mix with oil ( The more cloves you use, the spicier it will be!)

~ Add fresh greens of your liking – kale, spinach, lettuce, herbs – and toss with garlic oil mixture until well coated

~ Squirt the juice of 1/2 lemon onto salad

~ Add fresh ground pepper or cheese if you’d like and serve!

Spice Up Your Spagetti!

When buying marinara sauce in a jar, I find it very beneficial to the taste buds to warm it up on the stove top and add ingredients to make it your own.

~ Empty contents of jar of spagetti sauce into pot on stove and put on low heat

~ Add cheese, basil or rosemary, season salt and fresh ground pepper

~ Add pressed garlic and let simmer until it starts to bubble

~ For added spice, add more pressed garlic fresh right before you serve it

Spicy Garlic Toast

~ Combine olive oil and freshly pressed garlic in a small bowl and let sit for 5 minutes.  Add pepper and salt if desired.

~ Spread garlic mixture onto pieces of toast

~ Add shredded parmesan cheese if desired

~ Sprinkle a little bit of salt and pepper

~ Toast in a toaster oven.  Delicious with your favorite pasta dish!
