Recently, I was asked to clean a friend’s house after they moved out. It would provide me with extra cash and them with a peace of mind about leaving the place clean. I was blinded by the chance to earn some extra cash. When I could see again, I wondered if it was a good idea to agree to it. All my intensive house-cleaning experiences have been the same: My allergies go nuts, so my nose runs nonstop and I get dizzy. I get a headache from the smells of the cleaning products and after an hour I just need to take a shower, something for my head, and lay down in a dark room. So, needless to say, I was worried about having to clean an entire house, not just an apartment. The only difference this time was the cleaning products I used.

Let’s start with the window cleaner. I am used to using Windex; it’s effective and its relatively streak-free. However, the splashback that I would breathe in after spraying the windows would leave me coughing and induce a headache if I breathed in too much. I found a different product to use. It’s called Holy Cow Glass Cleaner. It is blue, just like Windex. It is streak-free with hardly any effort! And best of all, it has this pleasant smell to it. It is made with all natural ingredients so when I would breathe it in, there was no reaction, no “yuck” face. I could just smile and appreciate the nice smell of it. I’m telling you, this stuff worked better than Windex. You can get the details of all their cleaning products at www.holycowproducts.com.

Next, I will talk about the soap I used to clean the counters and other surfaces. I also used this soap in the mop bucket, along with another cleaner. I used “Dr. Bronner’s Magic Castile Soap”. I picked the peppermint-scented one to act as a pick-me-up for my senses. The smell alone was very invigorating and refreshing. The soap cleaned so well, I was amazed. I have used this soap before, but only on myself, not for cleaning. I was pretty surprised to see how well this soap worked as a cleaner. It is made from all organic materials, all vegetable-based and biodegradable. This particular company has many different products for cleaning and for personal hygeine that come in a variety of different scents, all made from essential oils. You can find this soap in your local natural foods store in the health and beauty department. I use it in the shower every day, but now I am going to use it more often as a cleaner as well! Check out all their products and what they are up to in legal battles against other beauty companies that falsely claim their products are all organic at http://www.drbronner.com

The third and last cleaning product I used is called Orange Plus cleaner from Earth Friendly Products. I used this cleaner in the mop bucket, but it did very well as an oven cleaner as well. It is made with pure orange oil, so it has a pleasant scent and isn’t too harsh to work with. It is very concentrated, which makes it a powerful cleaner, but it is made with not so harsh ingredients, harnessing the power of pure orange oil for it’s cleaning power. I again bought it at my local natural foods store. Check it out online at http://www.ecos.com/opcomp.html#desc

I sincerely recommend trying these cleaners out next time you need to do some housework or spring cleaning. It is a miracle to me that there are cleaning products out there that are so easy to work with and have such a strong cleaning power without the harsh chemicals that do my body and mind harm.

Please let me know if you have had an experiences with alternative cleaning products that have worked for you!

I don’t know if anybody has heard this story yet, nobody seems to be making a big deal about it except by giving the facts of the case. A 13 year old boy in Minnesota has Hodgkins Lymphoma. He went through one round of chemotherapy and said he wanted no more of it. Him and his parents opted instead to try some nutritional therapy. The doctors insisted that it was completely curable withe chemotherapy sessions, but without them he would die. So they took it to court to take the decision out of their hands. They have tried to say that the parents are not fit to take care of the kid because of this. So now the kid and his mother are on the run. This is horrible!

There have been reported cases of different forms of cancer being cured with nutritional therapy that included an intense body detoxification along with a strict diet. The body is capable of healing itself. When something is attacking the body, the best solution is to not treat the symptoms of the cancer, but to help the body fight it off. This is possible! Many of the doctors that have made this claim have been made outcasts in the medical field because of their findings and beliefs. If we can heal the body nutritionally, think of how much medicine and harmful radiation we would not be spending money on. And its not the easy way out either, its quite hard to follow a strict diet that contains no fats whatsoever and involves drinking a lot of vegetable juices.

Max Gerson, M.D. gave a speech in 1956 talking about his successes and failures in treating people with cancer by using diet therapy and extreme body detoxification. This is not a new development, doctors have been doing it for decades. The trouble is, once they started doing it, they no longer worked for a hospital. He believes in the importance of what we put into our bodies and how it affects us. He has this to say about where our food comes from:

“I found that in order to bring the parenteral digestion to the highest function, it is necessary to start with the soil. Our soil must be normal, no artificial fertilizers should be used, no poisons, no sprays which go into the soil and poison it. Whatever grows on a poisoned soil carries poison too. And that is our food, our fruit and vegetables. I am convinced that the soil is our external metab6lism. It is not really far removed from our bodies. We depend on it. But our modern food, the “normal” food people eat is bottled, poisoned, canned, color added, powdered, frozen, dipped in acids, sprayed-no longer normal. We no longer have living, normal food, our food and drink is a mass of dead, poisoned material, and one cannot cure very sick people by adding poisons to their systems. We cannot detoxify our bodies when we add poisons through our food which is one of the reasons why cancer is so much on the increase. Saving time in the kitchen is fine but the consequences are terrible. Thirty or fifty years ago (this speech was delivered in 1956) cancer was a disease of old age. Only elderly people whose liver was no longer working well – was worn out-became sick. They contracted cancer when they were 60 to 70 years old and cancer was a rare disease. Everybody knows that. And now four, even going on one out of three dies of cancer. Now in the second generation it is even worse. The poor children get leukemias more and more. There is no country which has so much leukemia as this country (USA), no country in the world. That is our fault. Ice cream is made with invert sugar. Coca-Cola contains phosphoric acid. Is it surprising that children get degenerative disease? These things constitute our external metabolism.”

Now all I can think about is poor Danny. They have claimed that his tumor has returned to the large state it was before his first round of chemo and if he doesn’t get more, he will die. But going through court hearings and then deciding to go on the run, there is no time or chance to really give diet therapy a chance! Of course the tumor returned to its previous size, I’m sure his stress levels are through the roof!! I say give him a chance to do what he thinks is right, even if you do not agree with his decision. He is 13, which they claim means he does not know how to look out for his own safety. And in years time, he will have no memory of the chemotherapy treatments. Danny has said they would have to drag him kicking and screaming to another round of chemotherapy. I think that would be something he would remember – forced medical treatment. He DOES NOT WANT IT! Give nutritional therapy a chance! Without it, Danny has no chance.

It was recently brought to my attention that there are a few bills going through congress right now that could affect the way local farmers make their living. HR 875 and HR 759 are being addressed as “food safety” bills that, intentionally or not, are targeted at industrial-sized farms, but do not exclude just growing vegetables in your backyard. I would like to spread the word about how these bills, if passed, will affect local communities, so you, in turn, can also help spread the word and we can all contact our senators and stop these bills from passing! Here is the jist of things:

HR 875 is the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009. It was introduced by Representative Rosa DeLauro (whose husband has Monsanto, a global seed and GMO production company, as a client. Hmm…). All of the bill is directed at “food production facilities”. What does that mean? Well the bill specifically states that the term “food production facility” means “any farm, ranch, orchard, vineyard, aquaculture facility, or confined animal-feeding operation.” No exclusions or exemptions are implied. So small, local farms would fall into the same category as industrial production facilities and will be expected to meet the same standards as stated in the bill. The Administrator of Food Safety will have duties of which will include enforcing performance standards for food safety, establishing an inspection program, and establishing a national traceability system for food. Sounds safe, yes, but not when I am buying my produce from the farm it came from. I feel pretty safe with that as it is, without the “tracing” of the food and having it live up to “performance standards”.

The bill also allows the goverment to interfere and dictate the standards related to fertilization, nutrients, packaging, and temperature controls, among other things. It also authorizes fines equaling one million dollars for “each act” and “each day” of a violation. Massive amounts of paperwork, fees, and tracking records will be required. This seems all fine and good for large facilities, but near impossible for the small farmers!

HR 759 proves to be even worse. It is called The Food and Drug Administration Globalization Act of 2009. This bill was introduced by Representative John Dingle and it requires the Secretary of Health and Human services to issue “science-based” performance standards to minimize hazards and improve food safety, and also establish “science-based” minimum standards for the safe production and harvesting of fruits and veggies. What the hell does “science-based” standards include? The bill does not say…. it is completely undefined.

All standards of this bill are the same whether it is an industrial farm with hundreds of thousands of animals, or you have a handful of animals on your property. These standards include providing an extensive food safety plan, elctronically tracking all food products, and having an ID system for every animal on your farm. Excuse me, sorry, for the industrial sized farms, they need one ID number for every 800,000 animals….for the small farmer, it is every animal, and the cost of doing so, of course. They will also be required to register with the FDA and pay annual fees for running their farm.

Again, this all sounds like a decent “food safety” program they are trying to instill, but only if you are just counting large food production facilities where animals are confined to a small space, are subject to disease and viruses because of a lowered immune system, and fed all the wrong things. This is where the problems are happening. But if these bills are passed, small farms will be affected in the same way, and could quite possibly be the end of them.

Buying locally is a great way to ensure that the food you are eating IS safe. These farmers’ livelihood depends on their reputation and word of mouth, they cannot risk doing anything that could compromise their products. Support your local farmers and contact your state’s representatives right now and stop this bill from being passed!!

The white house speaks of Hamburg as “a nationally and internationally recognized leader in public health and medicine, and an authority on global health, public health systems, infectious disease, bioterrorism and emergency preparedness. She served as the Nuclear Threat Initiative’s founding Vice President for the Biological Program. Before joining NTI, she was the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Prior to this, she served for six years as the Commissioner of Health for the City of New York and as the Assistant Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the National Institutes of Health. ”

And about Sharfstein, they say this: “He was the Commissioner of Health for the City of Baltimore. “He has been recognized as a national leader for his efforts to protect children from unsafe jewelry and over-the-counter medication, and ensuring Americans with disabilities have access to prescription drugs. He is a member of the Board on Population Health and Public Health Practice of the Institute of Medicine.”

Obama has also started a new group within the organization called the Food Safety Group. He knows that the FDA has a lot of work to do when it comes to examining all food processing plants across the nation. It has obviously not done its proper job in recent years. Obama vows to change that.

Considering what happened when Reagan was first elected and Donald Rumsfeld got to choose the new FDA commissioner, a duty he profoundly abused for his own benefit, the new decision made by the president is indeed a great step towards change in this nation. I only hope that the new commissioners dont stop at just inspecting food plants, but the overall condition of the government agency.

Thank you President Obama, for seeing what needed to be done and making the change. I cant wait to see what happens!

So I am sure most people have seen or heard the news about the drug Raptiva. I gotta vent here for a bit about this. Raptiva is a drug used to treat psoriasis, a skin condition that involves dry, red patches of skin on your body. Well the FDA wants to issue a warning, an alert, to tell you that the drug has been known to cause a rare brain infection that could lead to death. It has been known to cause all sorts of infections apparently, viral meningitis being another one. The injection drug seriously lowers your immune system, increasing the risk of cancer, and possibly leading to an infection that could lead to death. This is information I got off of the Raptiva website.

Other information the website provides you with is that there were cases where people had worsening or new psoriasis problems. So the drug has been known to make your condition worse. Great. It could treat it or it could make it worse, but look at all the happy people on our commercial that says that it worked for them!! Take a chance! People also had worsening or new arthritis problems. People came down with conditions in the nervous system! The worst part is at the end of all these warnings about the drug is this: ” These are not all the side effects of Raptiva. Talk to your healthcare provider to learn more. ”

There’s MORE?? That was enough for me! Who is learning about this drug and deciding, “yeah, I am willing to risk my health and possibly my life so I wont have this itchy flaky skin anymore.” And the FDA has issued a WARNING to alert people to the RISK of taking this drug. Isnt the FDA supposed to be looking out for our safety??? Obviously if there is ANYBODY taking this drug, we should not be able to make these decisions for ourselves. Take the drug away, destroy it, make it illegal like you have with so many harmless plant products that could potentially be healthful to us. But no. The FDA wants us to choose between a skin condition or a brain infection that could lead to either death or severe disability. Thanks guys, glad to know you are looking out for our health and safety. Thanks for the warning.

Raptiva Warning.

This is a video talking about some of the dangers and the new “Warning Label”.

Brian and I are planning on doing a liver cleanse in the near future, so I went and had myself a colonic in preparation. The woman, Leslie, made me feel very comfortable. The room was very cozy, with some nice sunshine coming in. She asked me if I was nervous. I was a little, but moreso I was excited to experience the results. She explained to me how it was going to go and then hooked me up. The tube was clear, so I was able to see what was going to come out. She explained that I would feel pressure and some cramping at times. The first fill came and went, and for the most part, the water was clear. It was kind of uncomfortable, but I just breathed through it. During the second fill, I started feeling a lot of cramping. Leslie was using acupressure on my stomach to help, but I started feeling flushed and started breathing faster. Then I felt all of that just release. As I watched the tube, big chunks started flowing through, then the water turned from clear to brown, and consistently was showing large chunks. Again, cramping started, and I felt the heat going straight to my head and my breathing became irregular. And again, it all just released. So powerful were those releases that the tube couldnt contain it all and it started to leak out a little. Leslie assured me that was normal. Then I alerted her to the fact that it was pouring out of me now. She looked under the blanket and was shocked. She got some extra padding and tried to help with the flow until the water stopped. Before the next fill, she unhooked me so we could clean up and start again. I already felt such a sense of relief, I couldnt wait to continue! So I got hooked up again and started the third and final fill. Again, cramping started. And again, the release was so powerful that water was spilling out everywhere! Leslie was amazed and thought maybe there was something wrong with tube. She looked and saw that there was nothing wrong with how it was set up. Her conclusion was just that my colon is very healthy and very strong! So strong that it pushed out all the water so hard that it actually soaked the bottom of my shirt! Luckily the trunk of my car is a storage place for some summer clothes.

I was a little shaky at the end, but very happy. I was a little disappointed that the appointment was based on time, not procedure. In the two times I had to go to the bathroom to resituate everything, I could have done another fill. But what did come out has made me feel amazingly better. Leslie also pointed out a parasite in the tube that had gotten flushed out. So I bought some heavy duty probiotics to help combat any more that might be present.

All in all, it was a great experience that I would recommend to anybody that has never tried it. We will also be blogging daily about our 5 day liver cleanse. Anybody got any other colonic stories to share?? Please do!
